It seems that scrapbooking is slowly fizzling out in Quebec. In the last year, several stores have closed, including my own back in June 2008. It would be interesting to know if the scrapbooking bug has left Quebec. It seems like people just aren't into scrapbooking anymore and are moving on or leaving it behind. Or is it a result of there being less outlets to obtain supplies?
On an international level, it seems that attendance of both manufacturers and retailers at the major scrapbooking trade shows has also declined in the last couple of years. The current economic situation may be playing a role in this trend.

Hi Cindy,
I think anyone who has ever been involved with scrapbooking as a hobby is still "into" it but I know I haven't been making time for it lately. It does seem to be less of a pasttime for most people. Not sure why as we still take photos at all events. Hoping to see your online store soon!
Not at all. I've never scrapbooked more than I do now. I still love it with the same passion as before and make time to create projects, cards and layouts every chance I get. I'm using up the naterial I have at home. I feel like I have a mini store in here! Julie
Like deuxgeo and Julie, I also have a good supply on hand - thanks to all the sales La Scrapitale had last year :) but I haven't lost the scrapbook bug - in fact I am now into card making and really enjoy it. So I do both and hope no more stores close! It is frustrating to have to go to 2-3 different stores in order to get what I need. I have introduced 2 newbies to scrapbooking - better late than never! I also know some real scrapbook junkies - so I believe the 'fever' is still there.
Another thing, I think some stores have closed over the last year mostly because their owners wanted to go on to something else. Maybe one of them in particular just bought too much stock and it wasn't moving fast enough. I know that when this one closed there were a lot of shocked and disappointed customers.
Hi Cindy,
No I haven't lost interest...finding time is hard with two little ones but I try to make a card or cut and paste something to keep me creative! I also have a large stash and so I am okay for now but I always like to see what's new. I'm also a tools/gadgets kinda gal so that is my interest too in this hobby. I hope your online store opens soon...that seems to be how I shop these days. Just hate shipping so having a local store to pick up will be fabulous!
Hi Cindy! I certainly haven't lost interest. But it is getting harder and harder to find new products here in Quebec. I think because some retailers don't want to chance new things that people may be feeling a bit bored with what is easily found out there.
So who won the riboon?? :)
